Cruisin!

Hey everyone!

Well we got back last night super late from another fun weekend! Our company cruise to that fun little place of Ensanada, Mexico! We set off on Thursday morning about 10 o'clock, we car pooled down with our good friends James and Jerrica Cook. We did our drive down in a two part adventure, with part one ending in Las Vegas! We stayed at the Excalibur Hotel right on the Strip! We found this awesome little discount ticket place just a little ways down from the strip and got a really good deal on tickets to see the Jabbawockeez!! If you haven't heard of the Jabbawockeez they are a dance group the won America's Best Dance Crew (Like American Idol). It was a lot of fun! We also ate at at a very good all you can eat place in the Monte Carlo. The next morning we headed out of the final leg of the trip to Long Beach, California where the cruise departed later that day. Luckily the whole driving portion was only about 11 hours total, so the last part was only about 6 hours. When got on the Cruise it was so much fun, we were with our company Linx so we had alot of friends with us! We played games, went to shows, and ate A LOT! Ensanada was super fun we shopped around ate a little Mexican restaurant right off the shopping blvd. You gotta love real Mexican Food, Yummie! Our last day on the boat was a tad bit disappointing... The weather was not nice at all, which was pretty sad because we had a Linx sponsored Shuffle Board Tournament. Winning Team took $500 to split! Mike's team got out in the first round... :( but he almost won if that makes it anymore exciting!

Well Halloween is on its way! Mike starts school today and I am still working, it is so good to be back here in Utah, but we are still so excited for next summer. We dont know where were going quite yet but we should know soon.

To see pictures from our trip check my Facebook page! Until next time everyone take care!

Funny Story!

Hey everyone!

So Thursday Mike and I went to Best Buy after I got off work, we were just needing to return a few things. When we came back out to the car there was a guy standing out side our car and said to us "Don't leave I just hit your car"....AHHHH!! NOT our band new 2011 Kia Soul!!! Luckily or unluckily the man who hit us was a police officer, and the car he hit us with was an unmarked police car. We then had to wait almost 45 minutes for another police officer to show up to do a report, which normally you don't have to call the police but because he was the police in a police vehicle we had to call them. After the report was done and we could leave I call our insurance company (USAA!!!) and they wanted us to immediately go to a collision repair place and have it inspected to see if it was drivable and to estimate the damage. The policeman hit us on the driver side fender right by the wheel well so it damage the side panel and the fender. After waiting 20 minutes to finish with the estimate we had now be on this car journey/fiasco for 2 1/2 almost 3 hours. The damage.......drum roll.......$750!!! Ouch! So moral of the story don't park in parking lots, you are not safe from ANYONE, even police officers who are suppose to be good drivers....not!

But now for the funny part, while we were waiting for the officer to arrive to make the collision report there was a fairly large truck that attempted to park in a handicap space across from us, he failed miserably (see my Facebook or to the right). It was so funny, he didnt even attempt to fix it at all, he just stayed half in his handicap stall and half in the other. We laughed pretty hard about that one!

What a WEEK!!!

Hi Everybody!

Well we finally made it back to the home land... Good ol Utah. We have been back for a little over a week and what a crazy week it has been. We got moved into our apartment safe and sound :) We love it would be an understatement. We live in south Orem kinda by IN-N-Out and RC Wiley. Its a cute little four plex with 2 bedrooms and it is SO close to everything! It is close to Linx (our work) and everything else.

Since we have been back it has been SUPER busy! We had Conference which was such a spiritual power boost that I needed. We also had Alyse and John's Wedding, what a wonderful thing to be able to witness. It was also such a special reminder of the covenants and promises Mike and I made just over a year ago.

We also got to go fishing on dad's new boat, it was so much fun! We got 7 in the boat! I by some dumb luck caught 3 of those 7! Dad cooked em up and fried they were so good (see mikes Facebook for pics). Then that night we got to go to the BYU homecoming game! What a game, it was so much fun!

The next day was Caleb's Deacon Ordination, Andre preformed the Ordination. What a sweet thing to see Andre ordain his little brother. I am also so impressed with the manner in which Caleb treated this very important step. He is such a bright young man and I am so proud of him. :)

(These pictures are actually from the BYU v Utah game)

I also have an important announcement! I have decided I am going to cosmetology school! I am so excited to start school, I visited a few schools and got a lot of good information. I think I have settled on Taylor Andrews, I got a scholarship there that covers 40% of tuition! I will more than likely be starting in either January or March, after all the chaos of the holidays and our trip to Washington. We are still going on a cruise in February so that is why I may want to start in March. but I can also make up the week I will be gone easily at school. But we will see.

Mike starts school next week! he is super excited to get back to school and get it done! He is taking a pretty light course load so it will give him time to sell on weekends if he wants to and have fun and relax. He worked so hard this summer, and some how still so excited for next summer to!

Well It is so good to be back in Utah and to see most of you. Hopefully by Christmas we will have seen the rest of you! Love you all, keep us in your prayers!

Love,

Mike and Lindy

All Down Hill From Here!

Hey Everybody!

We got back from our anniversary trip to Branson on Saturday.
We had a blast, it was so relaxing to get away and get rested up to hit up our last month hard! We did a lot and had so much fun! I think our
favorite thing we did was zip lining!
We got to zip line for a couple hours and all the lines were varying lengths, heights, and speeds but the "cherry on top" as Mike would say, was the Fast Track! After a Pinzgauer ride to the top of Wolf Mountain, the Zip begins about 25 feet above the top of the mountain. As we soared towards the 100 ft high zip tower at the base of Wolfe Mountain we reached speeds of 30-50 MPH!

When we got to the tower there was no stairs, no zip, or even ladder to get off this 100 ft tall tower. The only way off way off was to jump! That is right, its called free fall. As Mike stood on the edge he jumped! He made it look effortless. Now it was my turn, I approached the edge with butterflies in my tummy, the guide said okay. I looked at him and asked I can just go? He said yup like it was no big deal. So with a little hesitation I jumped! It was exhilarating!
I have never before experienced a rush like that! You fall all on our own for about 30-40 feet then the rest of the way down a pully slows you down so your landing in smooth, but WHAT A RUSH!! I think someday Mike and I will try sky diving now! We also got to go to a few shows, put put golfing, Go Karting and a wax museum!! Another of Mike's favorite things we did was the all you can eat place we went to called Starvin Marvins. It was all you can eat Lobster, Crab and Shrimp oh my. The lobster actually was good..but..it was whole lobster so it had a face, and eyes!!! Yuckie!! But we had a total blast and are excited to finish up our last month strong! So far so good!

Miss you all can't wait to be back!

Funny Little story!

I was coming out of Walmart today and as I was pushing the cart full of my groceries and as I was walking past a car I heard a popping sound! All in the same instant the trunk of the car lifted and flew opened, but no one was around. I of course was extremely startled and let out a little scream...I then heard laughing from behind me. I turned to see a lady approaching with her keys in hand. She quickly apologized for startling me as I kept walking embarrassed and laughing also. I love those small moments in life when you can laugh at things that come your way!

Also were back from Jefferson city (FINALLY) and on our first day(Saturday) back there were TWO incentives going on. The office incentive, which ever sales rep has the most sales of the day before and Saturday would receive $200. There was also the company incentive going on for the cruise to Mexico, 15 New Activations between Aug 1st and Aug 13. Mike won BOTH!!! Thats right were going to Mexico $200 dollars richer! Next time you talk to Mike tell him CONGRATS!! With our Trip to Branson only a week away were getting end of the summer jitters!

Can't wait to see everyone!

Lindy

Only 45 Minutes!

Well it is official, my little brother is on a plane on his way Kenya, Nairobi, Africa. The last time I spoke with him was last Thursday for about an hour. I told him how Mike and I were doing and how I couldn't believe he was leaving so soon. We promised we would talk again and said our good byes.

I got on Facebook as that is mostly all I do in this hotel, and I saw the last post Stefen had made about 45 minutes earlier saying he was about to board not to be seen again for 2 years! I quickly called him, hoping hoping hoping, please answer. The phone picked up and in a tear filled voice my Mom said "why are you calling Stefen's phone" She went on to say that I missed him by
about 45 minutes and he was Gone.
I haven't felt an ache in my heart like this in a very long time. I miss him so much already.

I am grateful my brother is worthy and made the decision to honorably serve the people of Kenya, Nairobi. I know that he will be an amazing missionary and he will plant many seeds that will bring people unto the gospel. I know that he will be preaching the true word of Christ. I can't wait to get my first letter from him to hear how his Journey has been thus far. Please keep him in all your prayers, keep him safe and strong.

I love you Stefen

Locked and Extending!

Funny story of the day!!!

Summer, Kelsey and I were going to head to Zona Rosa (Huge outdoor shopping mall) and I couldn't find my keys! I looked everywhere, common theme with me. When I thought maybe there in the car, and sure enough they were, BUT the doors were locked! How could this happen you may ask? Well Mike had been driving earlier and and I left my keys in the center console. When we got out of the car Mike of course locked it, but when he left out to go to area in someone else's car he left it locked and me being a bone head didn't think about it! So luckily we found a metal hanger and I stuck the hook end into the car through the 1 inch window slit! It all of a sudden became the most intense game of Crane I ever played. After a few unsuccessful attempts I got the keys to the window where we were able to hit the unlock button! Then off to the mall we went! In case you were wondering I found Mike a couple shirts ( he brought 2 out here and were going to Branson for 4 days) and I FINALLY found me a pair of shorts!!!

In other news!!!

Mike and I were so completely stoked to be coming home! We already found and apartment, Mike had an amazing school schedule, I had a job, BUT Linx made us an offer we couldn't refuse because they need me to stay and be an admin for the rest of the summer! So reluctantly we will be staying out here for another month and returning October 1st or 2nd! But not to worry we will still be taking our Anniversary trip to Branson! We also as an office will be going to California, Missouri which is about 2 1/2 hours away to sell for the rest of this week and next. We are very optimistic that Mike will VERY well out in the untouched area!

So wish us LUCK we have and month added to our sentence!!

Love,
Mike and Lindy

Stranded!

Well yesterday was quite eventful! Summer and I had to go to the bank to deposit all the set up fee checks for that week, so we decided on our way back we would also go to the mall so Kelsey and Kaylee were with us. While I was driving Summer's car, because she doesn't like to drive, the car started SMOKING on the freeway!! I immediately pulled over, we lifted the hood and the engine was smoking like crazy and appeared to be leaking anti-freeze. So we sat in the 100 degree hot humid sun for 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do. I tried calling my car insurance company( USAA) because my roadside assistance would cover a tow because I was driving....Great right?!!?? Well I guess we didn't have it on our policy for some dumb reason, I added it for .90 cents a month but it wouldn't take effect till midnight. So of no help right then. Finally and nice but creepy man named Robert Ruth pulled over to help us. He looked a lot like Santa Clause! he helped us get the radiator cap off and pour the remaining amount of anti-freeze that Summer happened to have in her car and we drove the remaining 1 1/2 miles to the gas station. We were there for another 10 to 15 minutes, bought some more anti-freeze and then drove to a Kwik Lube. We found out the mechanic was out sick that day and they closed in 20 minutes and we would have to wait to tomorrow. So we were officially stranded about 5 miles from home. Luckily we had a friend who wasn't with us, Cardin who could come pick us when she got off work. Finally after a 3 hour adventure we were SAVED!!! I went home and immediately and took a nap :)

I am grateful for friends to share amazing experiences like this one!!

Catching Up!

It would be an understatement to say the past two months were busy! but let me just update you all with a few headlines.

The 4th of July was SO much fun. Mike growing up in Utah never has the...legal opportunity to do fireworks because a lot of fireworks are illegal in Utah so this year we went all out! We did Roman candels, mortars, bottle rockets, sparkler bombs, and even ground hogs and bees! Mike only caught on fire once (see video on my Facebook page) and there are still have plenty of fireworks left. We had a blast and it was Mike and I's first 4th of July as a married couple...awww!

Work got crazy busy for a while there with our office putting up almost 50 accounts everyday for about a week and a half! I couldn't keep up with everything so I was able to hire one of the sales reps wives, Summer to help out with paperwork. It has been such a blessing to have some of my time freed up so that I can enjoy more of my day. But speaking of our office doing so well the guys from corporate flew out here to Kansas City to take our office out to dinner. We went to Jack Stack BBQ...HOLY COW!!! It was amazing Mike got this dinner called Jacks Best, it Features one Crown Prime Beef Rib, A Baby Back Ribs, and Beef Burnt Ends. The Crown Prime Beef Rib was HUGE!! and so delicious. I got a steak that melted in my mouth...best part it was on Linx!

Also Mike was offered a managing position next summer with Linx. We are so totally excited, I think it says a lot about Mike as a person and a sales man to be offered this opportunity after only being with the company for less than a year. The immediate benefits is obviously a better financial situation but what I am most excited about is being able to choose where we go next summer, and I am not going to be an admin :)' We decided to not extend for another month here in Kansas City and return home just in the nick of time for school...

Because Mike and I will be celebrating our one year anniversary on the 2nd of September and he will be hacking at a full time school schedule we decided to take a 3 night trip to Branson, MO!! For those of you who dont know Branson is very much like Vegas but much more family oriented. The package deal we found includes A Three-Night Stay for Two at a Preferred Partner Hotel in Branson, Two Tickets for the Vigilante Extreme ZipRider, Two Tickets for the Canopy Adventure and Zipline Tour, Two Tickets for Go-Karting at The Track, Dinner and a Show for Two at Dixie Stampede, Two Tickets to See "Legends of Kung Fu", Two Tickets to a Legends in Concert Tribute Show!
Were going to have an amazing time!

And the last but not least Mike's Mom, and Brian, and Marci came to visit us for the weekend! It was so much fun, they actually got to go out to dinner with us to Jack Stack with Linx's Owners. Were able to go visit Liberty Jail, the RLDS temple tour, Independence Visitor Center and watch an amazing Video, the Kansas City Temple and then drive up to Adam-omdi-Ohman. It was a spiritual experience and I could think of a better way to spend the Sabbath. We were able to read in Moses about the gathering oh so long ago and Adam's lineage down to Noah and Enoc. I love learning more and more about our churches history!
We then said our good byes at Waffle House! It was so good! Bittersweet was our weekend. Amazing to spend time with family but so sad to see them go. But it just means were so much closer to coming home!

Well sorry you guys haven't heard from us in a while, I will try to not let it go that long again. Hope all is well and can't wait to get home! Hugs and Kisses!

TORNADO!!

For those of you who don't know yesterday there was a devastating tornado that went through Joplin, Missouri killing 116 and injuring over 500(deadliest since 1953), those numbers are still rising with hundreds of people still reported missing. Joplin is only about 2 1/2 hours south of where we are currently living. Thank You to all those who have kept us in your prayers. Please focus your thoughts in these next few days on the families of Joplin how have suffered such a great loss. There are still tornado warnings through out the Missouri and Kansas, but us here in Kansas City, Missouri should be just fine!

In other news Linx is having a large competition company wide! Tour De Linx! The competition is definitely in favor of offices with fewer sales reps. Unfortunately we have a pretty big office. 13 Sales Reps. But the competition "ended" on Saturday, with a two way tie for first!! Kansas City and Medesto, CA. They have 2 reps. I really hope we win, first place gets 4000 dollars to split up, and second get 100 per rep. So either way we one a little bit of extra pocket cash, but it can't hurt to want first!! Also Mike has started to really pick it up, our office is awesome and every one is really nice and very positive so helps with the team moral!

Well its about time to get back to work so until next time, we miss everyone tons and can't wait to hear from you!!

LOST!!! and Found

Crazy/Funny thing happened yesterday! So most days I have our car to run errands and other things but yesterday Mike offered to drive our car out to the area with some other sales reps. Well I still needed a car so the office manager (Jake) was nice enough to offer to let me have his car for the day! Well about 3 o'clock I decided to go down to the pool and finally relax a little. When I left I went back to my storage garage and started to inventory for the day. When I was finished with that I went back home, but when I got to the door I could not find my keys. Now you may think that is odd but remember I have been driving Jake's car and using his keys all day. So I went back out to his car and looked all over, couldn't find them. Went back to the pool looked all over, couldn't find them. Went back to the storage garage looked everywhere inside, couldn't find them! When I started to walk back to the car to head back home to look some more I FOUND THEM!!! Low and behold the were perched on the roof of Jake's car!! I kid ye not i drove all over the place and they were still there. I am so lucky they didn't fall off some random place to never be found again. In case you were wondering what had happened is that I went to the apartments garbage dump and when I was cleaning out the garbage from the storage garage I put them on the roof by the passenger side rear door. WOW i am a goof!

I thought you all should know that if you think I am organized or on top of things apparently I am not. This job is slowly taking away my mind. haha. Anyway Miss you all tons and can't wait to hear from you!

BIRTHDAY TIME!!

May 13, 24 years ago something amazing happened. My husband was born! Today is his birthday, as most of you know I threw a surprise birthday party for Mike right before we left to Missouri! Being about a month before his birthday he was completely surprised! Today unfortunately will not be as fun or exciting :(. With Mike working all day until about 9:30 pm, there won't be much time for play. But I did proudly get the chance to make him waffles for breakfast, and tonight we are going out to dinner!

Today I also had the opportunity today to stop at the Kansas City Temple Grounds! It is going to be such a beautiful temple and it is right off the freeway and is a very beautiful area. The re-landscaping the whole area around the temples and they just started putting the stained glass in on the sides. For those of you who don't know the Kansas City temple is to be dedicated in spring of 2012. The next closest temple is the Omaha, Nebraska Temple (Winter Quarters) which is about a 2 1/2 hours away. Before Mike and I left for Missouri we realized that we would not likely be able to visit the temple this summer. So on my drive to the bank when I passed the temple I just felt a strong desire to quickly take the exit and stop by. I know that the temple has not been dedicated yet, but I know I felt the spirit there on those unfinished temple grounds. How sweet it was to have that brief moment near a temple of the Lord. I think Heavenly Father knew i needed that. Which makes me realize how incredibly lucky I have been for the past 3 years living in Utah have a temple in any direction only 20 minutes a day. I have missed the blessing of being able to go to the temple so very much, and I can't wait until I get to go back at the end of the summer!

Thanks again for everyones love and support we miss you all terribly!!

95 Degrees & Rising

Well as most of you know its very humid on the eastern side of the United States. Well today before 1 o'clock this afternoon it hit 95. It is so beautiful here and everything is so green and bright! Mike is doing really good out there selling he is getting inside a lot of houses and staying hydrated so he is not out in the hot sun all day!

Oh and just in case you were wondering my job has been so much better this week! Tonight it Buffalo Wild Wings Traditional Tuesday, so we will happily be eating dinner at our favorite wing place EVER (for those of you who don't know, they had BWW in Texas when we sold there last summer and thats how we became acquainted, but they don't them in Utah so one time, maybe last November we drove an 8 hour round trip to Twin Falls, Idaho JUST to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings on a Tuesday night)!!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to let every one how great full I am of the love and support everyone has shown to Mike and I as we have started this new chapter in our lives. I miss you all and we'll be home before we know it!

Our First Week Concludes!

Last week Mike and I packed up our stuff and drove what felt like half way across the country to our new home in Kansas City, Missouri. A new week has arrived and I already feel like this week should be much better. Last week was hard both of us but me especially. Have you ever heard of Murphy's Law? I truly believe Murphy was living on my couch last week!
On our first day here our internet was suppose to be up and running, well seeing how Murphy and I hung out so much last week, the internet was not set up. This made doing 90% of my daily work impossible, but never fear there is always tomorrow!!!?
Well my Tuesday work was just about doubled obviously, but we had internet finally so I was able to get stuff done.
But unfortunately I was up until about 2 am finishing up. I got up at about 6am to meet my technicians and pull their equipment (thats right 4 hours of sleep). My computer didn't print out any of Dish contracts so I ran back to reprint them out before the techs had to leave. The website wouldn't load them, I called corporate and they couldn't get it to work either! When they finally got it fixed my printer ran out of ink, but no big deal right i have 3 spare ones...Wrong. The 3 replacements they gave me don't fit the kind of printer they gave me. So Mike lovingly went to the store and bought a couple to get refills ($150 dollars by the way!) But the technicians had already left so i had to send the contracts with one of the sales reps. Thank goodness that was it for Wednesday.
Ah ha but then comes Thursday...the hard drive on my computer fried and it is not anything that can be fixed. So i spent about 2 1/2 hours on the phone with IT trying to get Mikes computer to hook up to the Linx server and get the scanner working. But it got done.
Friday was actually nice nothing went wrong.
Saturday was great to surprisingly, the whole office hung out Saturday and played volleyball and basketball. Sunday was amazing, we went to our new ward! Every one was very friendly and welcoming, they call all of the sales women "Summer Sisters". The lesson in 2nd and 3rd hour was very sweet. Then later we played Jib and Signs as an office! We all get along very well and had a blast!!

Well a new week has begun and so so great! But we will see what Tuesday brings. But until next week I want to let everyone know we are happy and doing wonderful, we love our new apartment and are so excited to be here!

Love,
Lindy J
